Advertising is an indispensable part of the marketing strategy of any product or service. It can inform people about different products and services, their utilities, cost and other requirements, and help us in making better purchases. For advertisers, advertisements can help in attracting huge number of potential customers and make positive impact about their products and services. A proper advertisement has a great impact on the sales of the product and that is why companies spend huge amount of money to make effective advertisements.
Publishing effective advertisements on Print media is tricky than publishing them on digital media like television ads and online advertisements. Print advertisements such as newspaper ads, magazine ads, yellow pages ads etc.  have to convey all the required information of the product  to the customers within limited resources. One of the major issues on print advertisements is the advertisement space. The advertisement has to give its information on the product within a limited space and the advertisers have to spend more money on wider spaces to increase their size of the advertisement. Also they have to focus on the size of the fonts and the images that has to be printed within a confined space.

QR codes (abbreviated from Quick Response code) are much like bar codes, except they can store a great deal of data and can provide virtually instant access to supplementary brand content. These diminutive 2-D codes can store information for a wide variety of things, from URL links, to geographic coordinates, texts etc. This is the primary, and most overt, reason that advertisers are using them. They can be used to supplement traditional ads. In this age of multi-directional media interaction, QR codes seem to fit right in. They can convert traditional one-way tangible advertisements, like billboards or print ads, into interactive messages. Often, targets may be interested in an outdoor or magazine advertisement, but forget it or are too lazy to take the time to look it up. With QR codes, targets can simply scan the code and be given more information.
Our smart phone application is designed to give print advertisings a new method conveying their information to the target audiences by using QR codes in their advertisements. For the advertisers, they do not have to worry about the confined spaces and their size of the advertisement. The customers will get required information about the details the product, their promotions and their services. They will also be informed of the stores and shops which are located nearest to their home.

Project Description
Our application is developed as an Android app as well as an iPhone application. The user can download and install the app from the Android market or from the iPhone App Store. The application will provide the users the opportunity to scan the QR code in a print advertisement and get relevant information of the product. To do this, our application will process the QR code, access the server of the advertiser and extract the required details from the server. The user will then have the option to visit the website of the advertiser or view more details on the advertisement from the application itself. The application will categorize the prize details, new offers, promotions and services of the product, if available. If the advertisement has an address, the application will pin point the geo location of the shop using Google Maps.  Also, if the user is interested in this advertisement, he can share it on social media or send the advertisement to another Smartphone. Therefore, our Smartphone application will help the advertiser to convey their product information very effectively within a limited space at a low cost and it will also help the customers to learn and engage more with their desired product.
